Hormisdas → Hormisdas, Rome
Tradução moderna em inglês
It is fitting that God's blessings, though they should be made known to many, should above all be declared to the highest pontiffs. Accordingly, we announce to your holiness through these sacred letters that, first by the favor of the inseparable Trinity, then by the authority of the most distinguished officials of our sacred palace and of the most holy senate, and also by the election of the most steadfast army, we have been chosen and confirmed as emperor, though unwilling and resisting. We pray therefore that you will supplicate the divine power with your holy prayers, so that the beginnings of our reign may be strengthened. For it is right that we should hope for this, and fitting that you should fulfill it. Given on the Kalends of August [August 1] at Constantinople, in the consulship of the most distinguished Magnus [518 AD].
