Thiel Ep. 69: eeu (a. 519 d Exemplum epistolae Pompeji ad Hormisdam.

Tradução moderna em inglês

The piety of almighty God, entreated by the prayers of your blessedness, has deigned to bestow upon us a prince of such great faith that the restoration of ecclesiastical peace, which was demanded by the prayers of all the faithful, may justly be seen to have been conferred through the most religious merits of his clemency; in whose accession to the throne he has established the most solid foundations of his rule through the working of the Holy Spirit, which possess such strength of unconquered stability as the excellence of his unique and admirable conduct is esteemed. And therefore, greeting the venerable blessedness of your pontificate with the tribute of reciprocal address, we beseech you to deign to pray more and more for the prosperity of our most merciful and most invincible lord and emperor: so that the ineffable piety of almighty God may guard with the help of righteous grace its own gifts, in which also the fruit of your husbandry abounds; and may the supporting intercession of your pontifical holiness also stand by us, your sons, joined to you by spiritual affection, whom the concern for this work has always especially bound.

Sanctis beatitudinis testrae precibus omnipotcmtis Dei pietas exorata tantae nobis fidei principem condonare dignata est, ut reli- giosissimis clementiae ejus meritis redintegratio pacis ecclesiasticae, quae votis onmium fidelium poscebatur, jure videatur esse collata; • in cujus regis proventu solidissima principatus sui fundamenta sancti Spiritus operatione constituit, quae tantum robur obtinent stabili- tatis invictae, quantum actionis excellentia unica et admirabilis aestimatur. Et ideo reverendam vestri pontificatus beatitudinem cultu reciprocantis alloquii salutantes quaesumus, ut magis magisque pro clementissimi atque invictissimi domini nostri principis prosperi- tate orare dignemini, quatenus ineflFabilis omnipotentis Dei pietas sua dona, iu quibus etiam fructus vestrae agricolationis exuberat, justis gratiae opitulatione custodiat: nobis quoque filiis vestris spiri- tuali vobis conglutinatis affectu, quos hujus operis maxime semper sollicitudo constrinxit, suffiragatrix intercessio sanctimoniae ponti- ficalis assistat.
