Epistulae Wisigothicae (Visigothic Letters) · c. 633
Isidore of Seville → Visigothic Court
Tradução moderna em inglês
Isidore of Seville [bishop, scholar, c.560-636] addresses the Visigothic court regarding the Fourth Council of Toledo [633], which he presided over and which would prove one of the most important church councils in early medieval Iberia. The letter communicates the council's decisions on liturgical uniformity, clerical discipline, and the treatment of Jewish converts — questions of church-state relations that defined the mature Visigothic kingdom. The Fourth Council of Toledo's canons became foundational texts for Iberian Christianity and show Isidore at the height of his influence.
